Port Haney Station

Maple Ridge is a thriving and growing city that is part of the Greater Metro Vancouver Area. This friendly and welcoming community offers a wide selection of transit options that links Maple Ridge to the rest of the Lower Mainland. Here is a comprehensive list of the transit and transportation options in Maple Ridge.

Light Rail

The West Coast Express is a commuter train that links Maple Ridge with Vancouver and operates during peak rush hour periods on Monday through Friday. These trains have a maximum seating capacity of 148 and are wheelchair and bicycle accessible. Each train car also offers public washrooms, computer plug-ins and workstations. The West Coast Express stops at 2 locations in Maple Ridge – River Road and Dunn Road. It also makes a stop at neighbouring Pitt Meadows.

Transit – Bus

A reliable bus service is an essential part of any successful city. Many of the neighbourhoods of Maple Ridge are easily accessible by the city’s bus service. This safe, reliable and effective method of transportation is another reason as to why Maple Ridge is an affordable and fast growing alternative to the Vancouver housing market.

Translink, in partnership with the city of Maple Ridge, is the major bus provider for the area. Translink offers bus service to and from the city as well as various bus routes that connect within the city. All of the bus services that connect Maple Ridge to neighbouring communities or to Vancouver connect to the Coquitlam Station; which is on the new Evergreen SkyTrain stations. For more information about specific routes or a bus schedule, please visit Translink’s website.

Translink also provides the HandyDART which offers door to door pick-up and drop off for individuals who cannot use public transit without assistance or have cognitive or physical needs. In order to access this service, you will need to register through Translink.

SkyTrain

Currently there is no SkyTrain service available in Maple Ridge and there are no plans to extend the SkyTrain to the city in the future. However, the Evergreen Line, which will be completed by the end of 2016 will be an extension of the already existing SkyTrain lines and will connect to Coquitlam Station. This will benefit the residents of Maple Ridge who use bus to service other parts of the Lower Mainland because all major bus routes connect to Coquitlam Station.

Airport

Pitt Meadows Regional Airport is the only major Fraser Valley airport and services local and national commercial and business aircraft. The Pitt Meadows Regional Airport serves the area north of the Fraser River from Mission to Vancouver.

Sustainable Methods of Transportation – Bike Lanes

In 1994, the city of Maple Ridge began the Bikeways Plan. This was a comprehensive overview of how to establish safe and environmentally sustainable alternative transportation routes in and around the city. The bike routes in Maple Ridge connect many shopping centres, the downtown core as well as major commuter routes to offer a safe, direct alternate transportation choice. A map of the bike routes and more information on the connections to Translink`s transportation options is available on-line. Remember the buses, trains and light rail are all bike friendly!

Walking

Maple Ridge is known for its many great trails that offer spectacular views and vistas of the breathtaking surroundings. However, there are very few walking paths that link the transportation networks of Maple Ridge together. The city and school board do focus on pedestrian safety and encourage walking to and from the many elementary schools scattered throughout the neighbourhoods of the city. All major intersections have crosswalks and the city continues to make pedestrian safety one of its top priorities.

The city of Maple Ridge is a great place to raise a family and is still an affordable and viable housing alternative to Vancouver. The city offers many routes into and out of the city and the transportation options make commuting not only possible, but also very user friendly. As Maple Ridge continues to grow, so too will many of the transportation routes and services available in the city. Come see for yourself why so many people are choosing to call Maple Ridge home.
